Department Of Microbiology
The department of Microbiology was established at GGDC Mandan Bannu in 2017. The department offers 4 years BS program. Students in the first two batches have completed BS degree in 2021 and 2022 respectively. At present there are four batches (2nd, 4th, 6" and 8") consisting of 201 students. The initial head of the department was Madam Mussarat Shaheen. In 2019, Mrs. Saima Noreen was assigned as head of the department. She is serving the department till date. The teaching staff consists of both regular and hired teachers. The staff is highly educated and cooperative.
The mission of the department is to promote high impact education and innovative research in a diverse and inclusive environment by exploring fundamental questions in microbiology, and to translate discoveries into therapies against infectious diseases.
There is a vast scope of studies in Microbiology due to advancements in science and technology and the emergence of new industries. Microbiology graduates enter various areas such as research and development, healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, food, and dairy industry, apart from teaching at mstitutions of higher secondary education. Further, many of the Microbiology graduates are also successfully running their own diagnostic labs.
